About the Program
Divergent Hackathon is a Project-Based Leadership Internship where high school student directors plan, organize, and execute a full-day, in-person Hackathon for 90+ high school participants.
Students spend the day identifying real-world challenges, designing innovative solutions, building demos or prototypes, and pitching their ideas to industry professionals.
This immersive experience builds teamwork, creativity, problem-solving, and leadership — all while connecting young innovators with mentors from technology, business, and education.
Ways You Can Volunteer
There are multiple ways professionals and community members can get involved:
Be a Keynote Speaker
Inspire students with your story, expertise, or vision for innovation and leadership.
Join the Panel Conversation
Share insights on technology, career growth, or life lessons in leadership and purpose.
Host a Hands-On Workshop
Choose from suggested topics or propose your own session to teach an AI, STEM, or leadership-related skill.
Coach a Team
Mentor 1 or more teams throughout the day as they brainstorm, prototype, and prepare their final pitch.
Serve as a Judge
Evaluate 7–9 minute team pitches that include the problem, proposed solution, demo/prototype, and presentation clarity.
Complete the judging survey to help update the leaderboard and identify Top 3 Winning Teams who will qualify for the National Hackathon Competition (Washington DC, July 2026).
Post-Event Collaboration
Create opportunities for winning teams to continue developing their projects or collaborate on real-world challenges in your organization.
Sponsor a Segment
Support by sponsoring lunch, snacks, prizes, or workshop materials for the hackathon participants.
